Chermita Zaimaani Johnson

Founder & CEO, The Lyttle Things

Chermita is a dynamic leader whose journey embodies a unique blend of scientific inquiry, healthcare expertise, legal training, and community-centered entrepreneurship. A lifelong learner, Chermita studied Chemistry and Biology at Tulane University, pursued Social Work and Healthcare Administration at Southern University at New Orleans, and trained at the Charity Hospital School of Nursing. Her passion for understanding the human mind and health led her to study Neuroscience and Neurology at The University of Alabama. She further expanded her expertise by earning a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and received specialized training at Southern Medical and Technical Training College, which laid the foundation for her multidisciplinary career.

With this diverse background, Chermita founded The Lyttle Things, driven by her desire to give back and make meaningful gifting accessible and impactful. What began as a local storefront in Mississippi has since transformed into a nationwide online business, reaching customers and communities across the country.

Beyond its retail mission, The Lyttle Things serves as a platform for community empowerment and student success. Under Chermita’s leadership, the organization has developed programs that directly address the barriers students face in higher education and personal growth:

– Aid Resource Provision: Supplying essentials like bedding, toiletries, and school supplies to ensure college students have what they need to thrive without the stress of unmet basic needs.

– Scholarships: Offering annual awards ranging from $500 to $1,000 to help students cover tuition, textbooks, and other educational costs—removing financial distractions so they can pursue their dreams.

– Summer Internship Programs: Creating pathways for students to gain real-world skills, build professional connections, and enhance their career readiness through partnerships with businesses and mentors.

Through these initiatives, Chermita has expanded the impact of The Lyttle Things beyond mere gifting, building a supportive ecosystem that uplifts students, empowers families, and strengthens communities.

Chermita’s work bridges science, service, and social impact, demonstrating her belief that even the smallest gestures, when rooted in purpose, can create lasting change.
